Coaching
As humans are social beings, the exchange of thoughts and ideas with other people plays an essential part in one’s life in order to reach clarity and a heightened awareness. Often, however, while talking with other people about life’s issues, we are on the receiving end of well-intended counsels or non-constructive criticism which do not in fact help us in our own search for clarity in situations of conflict. A Coach, in such a situation, only assumes an accompanying attitude and facilitates the client in his or her path towards resolving the conflict.
Coaching can be defined as the active accompaniment of the client in a process of gaining new knowledge and understanding. Self-reflection will be enhanced and meaningful solutions devised by the client will be reached. By asking powerful questions and leading the client towards finding answers and solutions, the Coach acts as a catalyst for a change of one’s inner attitude.
As I regard man as a ‘mine rich in gems of inestimable value’, I consider my main task as a coach to help the client (coachee) to discover and unlock these innate gems. Only if we see the beauty and wealth of our inner potential, do we feel empowered and motivated to use it. Through purposeful questions the client will be lead towards clarity and consequently be empowered to choose between many options and select the most appropriate to resolve the matter at hand.
To reach clarity means to become more aware of one’s potential, one’s wishes and possibilities in life and to bring them in alignment with one’s duties, one’s tasks and responsibilities.
It is beyond doubt that clarity always brings empowerment with it.
